Veteran Ghanaian actor Fred Amugi has sparked conversations online after opening up about his views on marriage and revealing that he would not get married again if he had another chance in life.
Speaking with Ghanaian gospel musician Piesie Esther, the veteran actor stated that if he were asked in his next life what he did in his previous life that he would not want to repeat, his answer would certainly be marriage.
“In my next life, if I am asked what I won’t want to repeat from previous life, I would say marriage,” he said
According to Fred Amugi, he would rather maintain friendships and relationships without necessarily tying the knot, stressing that he would not force himself into marriage again.
Reflecting on changes in society over the years, the actor explained that in the past, women mostly stayed at home to take care of the household and children while men pursued education and careers.
However, he noted that the modern world has changed significantly, with women now attaining the same levels of education as men and competing alongside them in various professional fields.
“Before, women didn’t chase a career and office work, so they were usually at home. But now, whatever a man can learn, women can also do the same. And these changes have also affected marital institutions,” he said
Although he did not disclose specific challenges in his marriage, Fred Amugi revealed that many people assume he has a perfect and peaceful home because he does not publicly discuss his personal struggles.
He explained that he is not someone who likes to wash his dirty linen in public, which has led many to believe that everything in his marriage is smooth and without challenges.
“I’m someone who doesn’t talk about my issues outside, so people assume my home is peaceful. So if I am starting again, I won’t consider marriage,” he insisted
His remarks have since generated reactions on social media, with some netizens questioning whether his comments are an indication that he may be experiencing marital difficulties behind closed doors.
