Prophet Nicholas Osei, popularly known as Prophet Kumchacha, has argued that dating can be more enjoyable than marriage, citing the freedom and attention couples often experience during the dating stage.
Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM on August 18, 2026, Prophet Kumchacha said men are often more willing to spend time with their partners and take them to social events while they are dating.
“I can boldly say that dating is sweeter than marriage. If you’re not married to a man yet, he takes you along whenever he’s going somewhere,” he said.
According to him, men in relationships are more likely to take their partners to funerals, parties and other social gatherings.
“He would like to take you out, go for funerals, parties, and other social events with you,” he added.
Prophet Kumchacha, however, claimed that the situation often changes after marriage, with some husbands becoming less inclined to take their wives along to social events.
“He doesn’t get tired of you, but the moment you get married, he wouldn’t go anywhere with you. He would ask you to be home whenever he’s going to any event,” he said.
He noted that such changes could leave some women disappointed, particularly when they compare their husbands’ behaviour after marriage with how they were treated during the dating period.
“You would always be sad because when you were dating, he used to take you everywhere no matter the number of years you’ve been together,” he noted.
Based on his observations, Prophet Kumchacha said he would continue to advise people that dating is preferable to marriage.
“As for me, I would always advise that dating is better than marriage,” he added.
