2028 Campaign Director for Dr. Bawumia, Dennis Miracles Aboagye has declared that he is “unbroken” and “more ready than ever” following his release on bail on Tuesday after spending four days in the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
In a statement issued on Wednesday, July 15 after his release, the aspiring New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Communications Director thanked party supporters for standing by him throughout his detention, insisting that attempts to intimidate him had failed.
“I am out. I am unbroken. And I am more ready than ever. Thank you, patriots!” he wrote.
Mr. Aboagye said he was arrested just a day after announcing his intention to contest for the position of NPP National Communications Director, alleging that false narratives were circulated about the circumstances surrounding his detention.
According to him, the truth would ultimately prevail.
“A false narrative was put out about my arrest, but Ghanaians are not fools, and neither are the good people of the New Patriotic Party. The facts and the truth will prevail,” he stated.
He also rejected reports linking him to discussions over an alleged GH¢55 million matter during his engagement with EOCO.
“For the records: There was no discussion of any GH¢55 million with me by EOCO. None!” he stressed.
Mr. Aboagye expressed gratitude to NPP supporters who protested and publicly demanded his release, saying their solidarity gave him strength while in detention.
“To every party faithful who hit the streets, who raised their voices, who refused to be silent, I saw you. I heard you. From my detention, word of your protests reached me, and it kept my spirit standing tall,” he said.
He maintained that his detention had strengthened rather than weakened his resolve.
“If the intention was to break me, it has failed. If the intention was to scare me, it has failed spectacularly,” he declared.
Reaffirming his ambition to lead the NPP’s Communications Directorate, Mr. Aboagye said he remains determined to help shape the party’s public messaging ahead of future elections.
He also thanked his legal team, the party leadership and supporters for their unwavering support.
“This journey is no longer mine alone. It is ours. We move. Stronger. Louder. Together,” he concluded.
Dennis Miracles Aboagye was arrested by EOCO at the Accra International Airport.
According to EOCO, the arrest is linked to alleged financial and procurement-related irregularities involving about GH¢55 million during his tenure as Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD).
He was arrested alongside the Secretariat’s former accountant, Gerald Appiah, as part of ongoing investigations into the alleged irregularities.
He has since been released on GHC50 million bail with three sureties, two of which were justified.
