The Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Effutu, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, has urged members of the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to unite behind the party’s 2028 presidential flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, ahead of the next general election.

Speaking as the keynote speaker at the Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) TESCON Leadership and Youth Empowerment Conference 2026, Afenyo-Markin encouraged the youth to play an active role in shaping the country’s future through effective leadership and political participation.

The conference, held at the university’s New Great Hall, was themed “Leadership and Youth Empowerment for Nation Building.”
Addressing students and party faithful, the Minority Leader called on young patriots to remain committed to the ideals of the NPP and work collectively towards securing victory for the party in the 2028 general election.
“I charged all young patriots to rally behind our flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as we march towards a decisive victory in 2028,” he stated.
Afenyo-Markin was accompanied by the National Organiser of the NPP, Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, who also joined participants at the conference.

The event formed part of TESCON’s efforts to equip young party members with leadership skills and inspire active participation in national development while preparing the next generation of political leaders.
