The Ghana Police Service has foiled an attempted robbery at a GCB Bank branch at Labone in Accra, resulting in the deaths of two suspected robbers and the arrest of another.
The incident occurred on Thursday, August 13, 2026, when the suspects allegedly attempted to rob the bank.
Police officers swiftly responded to the situation and successfully thwarted the operation. Two of the suspects sustained gunshot wounds during the intervention and later died, while a third suspect was arrested and is currently assisting the police with investigations.
The Ghana Police Service says investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the attempted robbery and determine whether other individuals were involved in the incident.
