Residents of Gorjiase (Kokooso) in the Suhum Municipality of the Eastern Region have received a major boost in educational infrastructure following the commissioning of a newly constructed three-unit kindergarten classroom block by the Suhum Municipal Assembly.
The project was officially inaugurated by the Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Rita Akosua Awatey, and the Suhum Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Lydia Ohenewa, together with other government officials, traditional leaders, and members of the community.

The construction of the facility was undertaken in response to repeated appeals from residents, parents, teachers, and other stakeholders over the poor condition of the previous kindergarten block, which had posed significant challenges to effective teaching and learning.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the officials reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving educational infrastructure across the country, particularly at the basic education level, to provide children with a safe and conducive environment for learning.

They noted that the completion of the modern kindergarten block demonstrates the government’s resolve to address the infrastructure deficit in schools and ensure that every child, regardless of location, has access to quality early childhood education.

The project also forms part of the broader development agenda of President John Dramani Mahama’s administration under its “Reset Ghana” initiative, which prioritises investments in education, healthcare, roads, and other critical social infrastructure to improve the living standards of Ghanaians.
